Natyarambha Sloka – These are the seven Shlokas from Natya Sastra, written by Bharata Muni that a dancer must know/recite before starting the Dance. Hence, these are called Natyarambha Shlokas. Natya means Dance and Arambha means Beginning.
Origin of Natyasastra – “patya” (speech) from Rig veda, “Gana”(song) from Sama veda, “Abhinaya” from the Yajur veda and “Rasa”(Rasam) from Atharva veda and created the fifth veda called “Natyaveda” and told Bharata muni to spread this across the world.

Meaning : Bharata Muni says ” I bow my head to Pitamaha (Brahma – the creator of the Natyasastra) and Maheswara(Lord Siva – the creator of dance) and reveal the science of dance (Natyasastra) as it was depicted to me by Lord Brahma.
